Tripping: Matt Singer Knows the Best Grub on Shelter Island
In honor of summer (it’s here, it’s here!), we’re asking some of the designers we heart to play travel agent. Ok, they’re not going to book your flight or anything, but they will tell you about vacations they took recently that shouldn’t be missed. Here, the always-charming Matt Singer shares his fave close-to-NYC escape.

“It’s difficult to get away-away these days, so most of my travel tends to be somewhat close. But I kinda have the luxury to get away in the middle of the week—which helps avoid crazy crowds on the weekends. Last summer, a group of friends and I went out to Sunset Beach in Shelter Island for a few days and had a super relaxing time…minus the one crazy champagne-sponsored boules tournament that took place at the hotel one afternoon. We snuck off to Vine Street Cafe for the day to lay low, and I can’t say enough nice things about this restaurant. I had the miso salmon, and everything we got was really good—striped bass, duck, diver scallops…” —matt
