Roster of nineties Tiger Beat heartthrobs: Joey Lawrence, Luke Perry, Devon Sawa, and little, chubby-cheeked Jonathan Taylor Thomas, who, on Home Improvement, played the middle son of a man who grunted to express emotion. Still got a soft spot for JTT? Well, then, you can hang this in your locker cubicle. —erica

Track Star: Frankie Rose

The Vibe: Frankie Rose has been in just about every girl-group you’ve loved in the past couple of years—Crystal Stilts, Vivian Girls, and Dum Dum Girls. And she really shines on her solo album Interstellar, which is full of space-pop beats and her breathy vocals. She’s got a style that’s soft, mysterious, and full of black silk; it plays well with her dark hair and blood-red lips.

The One-Song Intro: “Know Me”

The Look, Recreated: This floral neoprene bodysuit from Shakuhachi, these coated jeans by April 77, these Dieppa Restrepo sleek all-black booties, and this Tucker black kimono dress. maitri mehta

Meet some chicks as talented and stylish as Frankie right here.

These Rachel Comey guys aren’t actually rain boots, but they look like they could handle some serious puddle-hopping, huh? —erica

In Character: Dr. Emma Russell

I’ve got Russia on the brain—yah, for really obvious reasons—which made me think of re-watch the 1997 movie The Saint. It might not be a classic exactly, but Wikipedia says it has a cult following…which is good enough for me. And who says no to Elisabeth Shue, like, ever? —erica

A soon-to-be-bloodied Equipment shirt, to explain all of that cold fusion mumbo-jumbo.

Jeffrey Campbell boots for running away from the sort of mafia-type who wields a silver-handled cane.

A Thakoon Addition coat, for tracking down Simon Templar, Thomas More, or whoever he is.

Weather Vain: Cincinnati, Ohio - 14 and Mostly Cloudy

image

Man, it’s cold today in Cincy. So bundle up—and try not to let the chill hold you back. —erica

Clockwise from top left:

+ A winter coat—from Suno—that’s more sleek than it is snowman.

+ A Baggu tote that coordinates with Metropole's seared radishes and  baked cranberry beans.

+ Knee-high boots, from Cynthia Vincent, for stomping around Over-the-Rhine.

+ A Eugenia Kim hat that shields as much of your noggin as possible.

+ An Isabel Marant sweater, ideal for cozying up for a movie at Esquire Theatre.

+ J Brand jeans that are laid-back (and worn-in) enough for a visit to Rhinegeist Brewery

+ A Jennie Kwon ring that won’t get in the way of any of your frigid-weather gear.

+ Acne gloves that would look great wrapped around a macchiato from Collective Espresso.

Track Star: Victoria Legrand of Beach House

image

image

image

The Vibe: If Sirens were around today, Beach House’s Victoria Legrand would be the head of their gang: Her voice is echoey and supernatural, and her style has a certain hard-to-pin-down allure, too.

The One-Song Intro: “Lazuli”

The Look, Recreated: This patterned jacket by Mara Hoffman, this checked dress from Rag & Bone, a delicate braided cuff from My Eagle Scout, and these Acne pony hair booties.

Check out all our “Track Star” finds, why don’t you?

Couple Up: Lyle Lovett and Julia Roberts

image

Of Julia Roberts’s wedding to Lyle Lovett in 1993, People mag said—in a story titled “Lovett First Sight,” mind you—”It was the biggest thing to happen in Marion. Ind., since the high school basketball team won back-to-back state championships in the mid-’70s.” Well, the marriage only lasted 21 months, but their couple’s style survives. —erica

Lyle Lovett: A gingham tie from Alexander Olch, a Seize Sur Vingt suit that feels right for a long, tall Texan, and Nocona cowboy boots.

Julia Roberts: A double-breasted Societe Anonyme blazer, a pleated mini skirt by Christopher Kane, and black Jeffrey Campbell wedges.

More of this! Here!

Weather Vain: Indianapolis, Indiana - -13 and Mostly Cloudy

Yes, that’s right: NEGATIVE THIRTEEN. So better bundle up, Indy. —erica

Clockwise from top left:

+ Pure (non-Ugg) coziness in the form of Jeffrey Campbell boots.

+ Black leather mittens by Carolina Amato—as slick as the lobby of The Alexander hotel.

+ A super-serious down coat Helmut Lang—’cause you got to.

+ A stripe-y Eugenia Kim hat for scoping out the local street art. From your car.

+ K/LLER earrings that have a certain icicle-ness about them.

+ A big ol’ Jérôme Dreyfuss bag—to carry everything you could possibly need so you don’t have to go outside, like, ever.

+ A CdG CdG creation that’s technically a scarf…but could pass for a blanket.

+ Isabel Marant cords—this is not a day for tights.

+ A quilted Rag & Bone sweatshirt that’ll warm you up as fast as a ribeye (and bread pudding?) at St. Elmo will.

Track Star: Glasser

image

image

image

The Vibe: Cameron Mesirow, better known as Glasser, seems straight out of a surreal dream. Her newest album, Interiors, is icy, haunting, and gorgeous in a chilling sort of way. And, since that record’s inspired by architecture, it’s hardly shocking that she loves structure—her look’s all about interesting lines and sharp prints.

The One-Song Intro: “Shape”

The Look, Recreated: This trippy dress from House of Holland, this big, bold necklace by Orly Genger by Jaclyn Mayer, and these LD Tuttle ankle boots. —maitri mehta
