Next Level: Fringe

image

How to wear fringe without feeling like you’re repurposing a razzle-dazzle-y  Halloween costume? Four ideas—good ones, if you ask me. —erica

LEVEL I: Well! It doesn’t get more ladylike than this Adam Lippes dress.

LEVEL II: Hey, Coachella, these Loeffler Randall sandals are looking for you.

LEVEL III: Tibi makes backless feel a smidge more approachable.

LEVEL IV: This jacket = very Devil Wears Prada-on-an-acid-trip, c/o MSGM.

Track Star: Katy B

The Vibe: Katy B is one of the most important voices in British pop music right now—yah, that’s right. Her new album, Little Red, is a mix of all her mediums—dubstep, ballad, pop, and grunge. She loves a good romper and some bright colors—not that anything can hold a candle to her fiery hair.

The One-Song Intro: “Crying For No Reason”

The Look, Recreated: This psychedelic shift dress from Kristinit, this tie-dye caftan by Mary Meyer, and this 3.1 Phillip Lim fringe leather jacket. maitri mehta

Listen up: There’s a whole lot more “Track Star” to be had.

Couple Up: Paul Rudd and Jennifer Aniston

image

Paul Rudd and Jennifer Aniston have been a couple in two movies, The Object of My Affection and Wanderlust. But, turns they did stint together in real life, too, waaay back in 1998—and I’m pretty into the idea of them as a twosome. Maybe they broke up because of the soul patch he had for part of their relationship? —erica

Paul Rudd: A Pierrepont Hicks tie, a brown Everlane shirt, and a corduroy jacket from Billy Reid.

Jennifer Aniston: A Carven shrug (yes, shrug), a strapless column dress from Cedric Charlier, and a sparkly necklace by Tom Binns.

Get all the “Couple Up” you can handle if you head this way.

Weather Vain: Dallas, Texas - 73 and Clear

This time last year, Claire and I were exploring Dallas, and we’re kind of itching to do it all over again—especially on a straight-up gorgeous day like this one. What we’d wanna wear! —erica

Clockwise from top left:

+ So slick, this Kelly Wearstler ring! It’ll fit right in at dinner at Tei-An.

In Character: Anna Scott

image

image

image

When Notting Hill hit theaters, it seemed kind of shocking that it was the first time we were seeing Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts together. I mean, HOW?! They were, like, the romantic-comedians of the nineties, and we finally got to see them side-by-side just before the decade ran out. Here’s how J.R. sold herself as big-deal—but totally relatable!—movie star. —erica

image

An Opening Ceremony jacket with a little Mandarin collar that exudes a sort of laid-back cool to win over a dinner party full of Brits.

image

A Bop Basics hat, ideal for the actress hiding from a naked-photo scandal.

image

A House of Holland cardigan that would totally seduce the owner of a travel bookstore.

"In Character" galore!

Track Star: Nadine Shah

image

image

The Vibe: Her music is compared to PJ Harvey’s and Nick Cave’s, and that romantic sadness is definitely reflected in her simple-but-sleek—and all-black—outfits. She’s like a 2013 Kate Bush in the making.

The One-Song Intro: “Aching Bones”

The Look, Recreated: This classic-as-they-come black leather jacket from The Sway, these black-on-black skinnies from Courtshop; and this cozy men’s henley by Todd Snyder. maitri mehta

Some serious “Track Star” action this way…
