Alumni News: Brvtvs for Jason Wu

See those cuffs on Karlie’s ear (in this pic from the rad Into the Gloss)? Well, they were made for Jason Wu’s spring show by our girl Caroline Ventura of Brvtvs. They’re clip-ons—or squeeze-ons, maybe—and since she didn’t have so much experience in this cartilage realm, she called on her piercing pal Colby Smith of NY Adorned for some pro tips. Basically: badass for beginners. —erica

Emerging Thing of the Week: Ditto

Ditto has the potential to be, as Claire put it, “the Sephora of eyewear.” And while the selection that the brand-new (we’re talking weeks-old) site carries is stellar—Elizabeth and James, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Jason Wu, Westward Leaning—its fancy fit technology is even more stellar. Ditto takes video of you moving your head from side to side, asks you to put a Visa, gym pass, or anything else that fits in a wallet’s credit card sleeve up to your forehead for scale, and then makes a “ditto” of you so can see just how crazy/awesome you look in a pair of blue-and-orange Selima Optique frames. —erica

Jason Wu’s Collection for TSE Will Definitely Keep You Warm — The Cut

Everybody, everybody, everybody is doing capsule collections. At the risk of sounding like the Torrence Shipman of fashion, I love the spirit of capsule collections—the collaboration, the mutual support, the spicing up of collections, the frequency with which emerging designers are getting recognition from established brands (whether they be Urban Outifitters or TSE)…

Not that Jason Wu is in need of much more recognition after having Michelle Obama wear his gown to the inauguration balls, but this partnership with TSE makes so much sense. These designs bring a little bit of edge and youth while maintaining the level of sophistication expected of TSE…and you know because it’s TSE that all of the fabrics are completely and ridiculously luxurious. In general, I love this collection and I think Wu incorporated some strong 90s design elements in a way that’s really very current.

Also: let’s hear it for those pants.
