Weather Vain: Austin, Texas - 91 and Partly Cloudy

image

Last Monday, we were in Austin. This Monday, we’re not. Instead of getting bummed about it, we’re taking a vacation in our minds. And here’s what we’re packing. —erica

Clockwise from top left:

+ An Apiece Apart top that’s anything but clingy—essential in this heat.

+ A Shashi bracelet as thoughtfully composed as the dishes as Uchi.

+ The sort of Sophie Monet necklace that’s just asking for some sunset sangria at Hotel San Jose.

+ A Jerome Dreyfuss bag—scored at Kick Pleat, perhaps?

+ A light-as-air Etoile Isabel Marant skirt that vibes with the global flyness at JM Drygoods.

+ Leather-trimmed aviatorsLinda Farrow for The Row—ideal for exploring East Austin.

+ The sort of Marais USA sandals itching to be broken in anticipation of the steamy months ahead.

Explore more destination-centric getups over here.

Weather Vain: Barcelona, Spain - 63 With a Chance of Rain

Right about now, NYC weather is making us wish for more temperate climes…and, ok, papas bravas. Here’s what we’d love to be rockin’ in Barcelona today. —erica

Clockwise from top left:

+ An easy, no-nonsense M. Patmos dress that can handle too many tapas at Quimet y Quimet.

+ The sort of Jérôme Dreyfuss bag that Gaudí would be allll about.

+ An Iro jacket fancy enough for some shopping in Eixample.

+ The sort of Acne boots that would fit right in at the bar Hook—as in, the movie (and, ok, lots of other places, too).

+ Fortune Favors the Brave studs—the sort of easy-to-pack jewelry that you can wear every damn day.

+ A Nettie Kent necklace that feels as polished-but-quirky as the city itself.

More forecast-dressing goodness! Over here!

Weather Vain: New Orleans, Louisiana - 93 and Partly Cloudy

New Orleans in the summer? OOF. And this is just the beginning. Here’s what to wear in the Crescent City on a day like today when you’ve got to have your café au lait on ice. —erica

Clockwise from top left:

+ A Jérôme Dreyfuss bag that’s neutral…but not tooneutral.

+ A Raquel Allegra dress as white as the powdered sugar that coats a beignet.

+ Bright little Rebecca Minkoff sandals that can handle a hunt for a snowball, no matter how long it takes.

+ The mixed metals of this Dirty Librarian Chains necklace (just for Of a Kind!) mesh well with the city’s culture-melding ways.

+ A wood-and-howlite Sophie Monet bangle that goes as well with po’ boys from Parkway as poached gulf shrimp from Gautreau’s.

+ The no-fuss bifold Eayrslee created for us—encouraging you to carry no more than you absolutely need.

Weather Vain: Austin, Texas - 62 and Clear

In a month and a half, we’re headed to Austin for SXSWi (we’re speaking on a panel, you guys!), and it’s never too early to start workshopping a look. Here’s an ensemble that fits today’s bill. —erica

Clockwise from top left:

+ How sunny are these Illesteva sunnies? Very, if you ask me.

+ These B Store boots have just a touch of Annie Oakley in ‘em.

+ This ALC dress would do a damn good job hiding BBQ stains.

+ Better Late Than Never earrings (for Of a Kind!), cool enough for drinks at Hotel Saint Cecilia.

+ A Jérôme Dreyfuss wallet that won’t weigh you down on South Congress.

+ A way-cool Ketzali scarf to keep you warm enough to eat dinner outside at Perla’s.

For past installments of “Weather Vain,” head this way…

My friend Priya and I went to visit the beautiful, beautiful bags at Jérôme Dreyfuss today. It’s kind of like stopping by a pet store (well, without the puppy mill factor): It’s painful to know you can’t possibly take the cuteness home with you. Anyway, the little Twee Mini is the sort of bag I long to carry—the type that permits just a credit care, cash, keys, a phone, and one shade of lip gloss. That would mean leaving behind crumpled receipts, half-read magazines, random business cards, maps of cities you don’t currently live in…the list goes on. We especially love this so-bright purple suede, but, as you can see, there are plenty of amazing colors to choose from. —erica

If we owned one of these supersaturated Jerome Dreyfuss bags, we would be tempted to paint our nails to match.
