In Character: Mrs. Euphengenia Doubtfire

image

image

image

Mrs. Doubtfire is a hilarious and wonderful movie—and not just when you watch it (over and over on VHS) as a 10 year old. Here, how to follow Kim K.’s lead and mimic the namesake character’s look. —erica

image

A shirt, by MSGM, that might catch fire when she leans over the stove.

image

A Sophie Hulme bag that is decidedly grown-up and dependable—just like this dad in drag.

image

Suno's loud floral blazer, worn with a matching dress, that looks even kookier next to Pierce Brosnan in his swim trunks.

It’s “In Character” madness over here!

Y’all: Fall foliage season is wrapping up. Here’s how to make the most of the end if you’re hangin’ on Long Island’s North Fork. —erica

+ A Wool and the Gang knit hat that matches a glass of Croteaux Vineyards merlot.

+ FAUX/real's take on a pearl necklace—which is a lot cooler than an ultra-classic, East Hampton-worthy strand.

+ A sweater as cozy as a bowl of chowder from A Lure—c/o Carven.

+ Current/Elliott chinos that make East Coast prep look pretty freakin’ cool.

+ Marais USA boots as dark as the night sky as seen through at Custer Observatory telescope.

+ An Eddie Borgo bracelet as stunningly sleek as the squash for grabs at The Farm.

+ A Sophie Hulme clutch fancy-schmance enough to overnight at North Fork Table & Inn.

+ For strolling around Goldsmith’s Inlet Park: a snuggly wool coat from Surface to Air.

Next Level: Wool Coats of Many Colors

image

It doesn’t really get more sophisticated than a camel coat. But that’s not to say you shouldn’t have something a little—or a LOT—more fun in your outerwear arsenal too, and these four guys are up to the job. —erica

LEVEL I: Double-breasted and ultra-classic, this plum BLK DNM number is just two notches left of neutral.

LEVEL II: Take a standard peacoat, turn the blue up to 11, and you get this Carven sucker.

LEVEL III: So ladylike in a can’t-hold-me-back way—how sick would this Sophie Hulme guy look with black-and-white prints?

LEVEL IV: The color of this MSGM situation is majorly girly, but the boxy shape and cropped sleeves are much more salty than sweet.

Here you have it: all the “Next Level” you can handle.

Next Level: Pineapples

Well, well, well. Look what fruit is top banana now. Here’s how to bring some tropical flair from the produce aisle to you closet, stat. —erica

LEVEL I: This Sophie Hulme sweater would suit a pre-makeover Tai Frasier. Or any girl who wants to be cute and comfy, really.

LEVEL II: No, these Strathcona socks couldn’t be more adorable. Yes, they’d really spice up some skinny black pants.

LEVEL III: You’ll need this Wildfox tank once you’ve nailed your beachy summer hair…finally.

LEVEL IV: Ok, these Nikos Koulis earrings are quite the investment. But they’d get you cast in the local production of South Pacific without a doubt.

All the “Next Level” action you can handle right here.

Can we talk about how the three biggest cities in Ohio start with C? Ok, we don’t have to. Instead, let’s discuss what to wear if you’re in the very largest C on a day like today. —erica

Clockwise from top left:

+ A bag slick enough for weekday brunch at Pistacia Vera—c/o Sophie Hulme.

+ A Sea dress that will take you all the way to sweater season.

+ A Kelly Wearstler ring that’s itching to hit the galleries in the Short North district.

+ Miista jellies—reminiscent of your youth, just like two scoops from Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams.

+ Lulu Frost earrings that jazz up any Monday (or, hell, Friday for that matter).

+ Slim stacking rings by House of Harlow—chic enough for the River Oaks crew.

+ The sort of silk dress by Kain that looks impossibly cool at the bar at Oxheart, with a super-icy beer.

+ Common Projects sandals—in case you want to play a few games of badminton after dinner at Brooklyn Athletic Club.

+ So you can pull that sweaty hair off your neck: a schmancy Bao Bao Issey Miyake hair tie.

+ A IIIBeCa bag that goes with everything in its boldness.

+ Kenzo snakeskin shades—you’ll need them if you’re going to stroll Montrose (and duck into shops for A/C as much as possible, obvs).
